Spine Surgery in Gurgaon
Most neck and back problems are treated without an operation. Spine surgery is discussed when a nerve or the spinal cord is pressed, when the spine is unstable, or after some fractures.
Dr. Deepak Kumar is a Senior Consultant Neurosurgeon & Spine Surgeon in Gurgaon with advanced training in spinal implants (Germany).

Conditions where surgery may be discussed
Surgery is a specific decision based on symptoms, examination, and the scan, for example:
- Slip disc with severe ongoing pain, clear weakness, or emergency signs
- Spinal stenosis that clearly limits walking or causes weakness
- Cervical spondylosis with pressure on the spinal cord or a nerve root
- Spine fractures that are unstable or press the spinal cord
Types of spine surgery
Decompression opens the canal to give the nerves more room. It does not undo wear in the rest of the spine.
Minimally invasive and endoscopic spine surgery use smaller incisions for selected disc and stenosis problems. A smaller cut does not mean the procedure is minor, and it is not the right route for every spine.
Fusion encourages two or more vertebrae to heal as one segment, usually with screws, rods, or a cage, plus bone graft. Implants do not promise that back pain will disappear, and neighbouring levels can still wear over the years.
Ask before you agree
Ask which method is being suggested for your MRI, and why, and whether a fusion is really needed.
Emergency signs
New weakness, loss of bladder or bowel control, numbness in the private area, a seizure, or increasing drowsiness after an injury is an emergency. Go to the nearest hospital emergency department; the OPD is for planned reviews.
