A symptom list is not a diagnosis
A brain tumor is a growth inside the skull. Some grow from the brain or its coverings. Some have spread from a cancer elsewhere. Some are non-cancerous and still cause trouble because the skull cannot expand. Reading a list of symptoms cannot tell you which of these you have, or whether you have any of them.
The same symptoms occur in migraine, sinus disease, medicine effects, anxiety, stroke, and infections. The list below is a reason to be examined, not a reason to decide you have a tumor.
Talk to the clinic about this topic
Leave your name and mobile number if you want the clinic to call about the condition in this article. This is not a diagnosis.
Symptoms that should be assessed
Tumors declare themselves in two broad ways: by pressing a particular function, and by raising pressure inside the skull. Either, both, or neither may be obvious.
- A headache that is new for you, worse in the morning, or paired with vomiting
- A first seizure in an adult, or a change in an old seizure pattern
- Weakness or numbness on one side of the face, arm, or leg
- Trouble finding words, understanding speech, or reading
- Double vision, loss of part of the visual field, or new hearing loss on one side
- Unsteady walking, or clumsiness that is clearly new
- A change in personality, memory, or judgement noticed by the family
What the consultation actually covers
Dr. Deepak Kumar will ask how the symptom started, examine the nerves, strength, and balance, and look at the MRI. A CT is sometimes the scan you already have. The report's word 'lesion' needs the pictures. Location decides more than size alone: a small growth in a speech area is a different conversation from a larger one in a quieter area.
Next steps can include a short period of watching with a repeat scan, medicines to reduce swelling, a biopsy, surgery to remove part or most of the growth, or referral to an oncologist. Some tumors are treated without an operation. No honest surgeon promises that every cell can be removed, or that surgery will restore a function the growth has already damaged.
If you are comparing opinions
Brain tumor treatment in Gurgaon should start with the films, a pathology plan, and a clear statement of the goal of surgery. If you have already been advised an operation, a second opinion is reasonable. Bring the earlier doctor's note rather than a summary from memory.
Outpatient review is at Brain & Spine Care, Sector 15, and at Aarvy Healthcare, Sector 90. A seizure that will not stop, sudden unconsciousness, or a rapidly worsening headache with vomiting tonight is an emergency department problem, not a next-week appointment.
